Wendy Gay Seghi was born on March 29, 1952, in Pontiac, Michigan as the youngest of two girls to Richard and Bessie Price. She grew up in the Walled Lake area and graduated from Walled Lake High School in 1970. She was an avid lover of outdoors, animals, and people. As a child, she grew up on a small island, and played outside most of the time, catching (and bringing home) all sorts of animals, from dogs and cats to lizards and frogs. She was a strong swimmer and loved to swim in the many lakes around the area in which she lived. She hunted and fished with her father and went with him to the auto shop where he worked on cars that he raced. She helped him raise Beagles that he also sold to other hunters. After his death when she was 11, she grew more attached to the animals and eventually had a horse that she would ride with a friend everywhere. She even took the horse for swims in those same lakes she liked to swim in.
After she graduated, she worked various jobs until she became a school bus driver for the Pontiac school system. She was one tough cookie and drove in some not-so nice areas. She loved those kids, and they loved and protected her. During the summers, she would drive an ice cream truck to their neighborhoods with her Dalmatian dog, bringing joy and happiness to those same kids.
When she was 25, she married Al Seghi, and eventually moved to Howell, Michigan, where she had a farm of 5 acres. As when she was growing up, she surrounded herself with a lot of animals. She had cows, goats, pigs, and chickens … LOTS of chickens. She had a flock of over 30 at one point. She had a garden of about an acre that she used to help feed many families in her church family. She loved the people in Howell and was still great friends with many and saw them on her frequent trips back to Michigan.
She moved to New Mexico in her late 30s with her young son Branden, where she lived for about 10 years. She eventually worked for AAA New Mexico as a manager of 5 departments. She was well known as an astute, effective manager who was the first one who received perfect audits in her office. She was able to go with Branden on many trips because of her job, including yearly trips to Disneyland.
She later moved to Atlanta GA to be the manager of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Distribution Center. It was while she was working there that she met her future husband, Oze McCallum. They dated and were engaged for almost a year and were married on March 31, 2006.
They lived in Marietta, GA where she continued with her love of nature, animals, and people. You could always found her outside in her garden tending to her plants and her fairy garden. Wendy loved to be active, and she traveled to see the world. She always loved to learn and become better in anything she did. Whether it was about health, spiritual growth, or knowledge, she wanted to learn more. Wendy always loved and cared for anything and anyone she came across. Her most prized possessions were her children and grandchildren. She had many stepchildren that she loved as her own. Wendy spent her last moments with the love of her life Oze McCallum to whom she was married for 18-1/2 years. She was person with a big heart full of love and shared it with everyone. May she rest in peace until we meet again.
Wendy is survived by her husband, Oze McCallum, Sister Mary Young, Son Branden Seghi (Alicia), stepchildren Ryan McCallum (Amber), Chelsea McCallum, Robert Seghi (Ann), Nephew Richard Price (Dixie) along with granddaughter Liliana Seghi and step grandchildren Joshua McCallum, Layla McCallum, Robert Seghi Jr, Jesse Klepak, Great-niece Samantha Wall (Corey), Great-nephew Adnrew Price (Savannah), and Great-great-niece Kinslee Wall and great-great-nephew Reed Price. She is also survived by her two aunts: Joan King and Sandra Miller.
Her ashes will be interred at a later date at Oakland Hills Memorial Cemetery in Novi, Michigan.
