

William K. (Bill) Dobson age 96 of Atlanta, GA, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Wednesday Sept. 3, 2014. He is survived by his wife Bettye Yancey Dobson, his two daughters Mary Dobson (Craig Dankewich), and Susan Caldwell (Ed), two step daughters Bee Deloach (Frank), and Missy Cahill (Phil), two step sons Jeff Yancey and George Yancey (Jayashree), and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
An alumni of Boys High School in Atlanta and Birmingham Southern College, Bill enlisted in the Army in 1942. He served during WWII as a 2nd Lieutenant with the "Big Red One" 1st Infantry Division on Omaha Beach during the Normandy Invasion and at the Battle of Aachen. He was wounded twice and awarded the Bronze Star and two Purple Hearts. His campaigns took him through England, France, Germany and Italy. After returning from the war in 1945 he was married to Helen Hackney until her death in 1984. Bill was a lifelong member of the Second Ponce de Leon Baptist Church and E.E.E. Sunday School class. He also served as an Usher, Deacon and Church Treasurer. Bill worked for Acousti Engineering Company for many years as an Accountant, Treasurer, and CEO. He retired in 1992 at age 74. He married the former Bettye Braungart Yancey in April 1986. He was also a Chevalier with the Order of Saint Lazarus of Jerusalem.
Throughout his long and blessed life Bill was always kind and caring with a gentle, patient and humorous nature. He was truly well-loved during his life that was well-lived.
