William Aubrey Trinkle (Bill) of Marietta, Georgia passed away on January 28, 2018 after a courageous four year battle with Multiple Myeloma and Myelodysplastic Syndrome. Bill was born in Roanoke Virginia on November 11, 1944. He graduated from Patrick Henry High School in 1963 and went on to Virginia Tech where he graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Finance in 1969. While at Virginia Tech, Bill lettered on the basketball team.
After graduating from college, Bill began a teaching career as a high school teacher and coach at Dinwiddie High School in Dinwiddie, Virginia. He taught math, economics and business law, while also coaching varsity basketball and golf. After working in the education field for 12 years, Bill changed his career to business and finance when he began working for GE Credit Corporation, which took him to Montgomery, Alabama and eventually to Atlanta, Georgia where he remained for the remainder of his life. He spent the majority of his finance career working for Capital South Group in Marietta, Georgia, where he worked for over 10 years. Looking for one final change, Bill began working in the grocery business at The Kroger Company in their management program. He spent over five years with them at multiple locations in the Atlanta area before eventually retiring from Acosta Sales and Marketing in April of 2010.
Bill enjoyed coaching youth basketball so much that he coached teams for East Marietta Youth Basketball before he even had his sons. He won an award from his employer, GE Credit Corporation, for his outstanding community service for his service to youth. He continued coaching youth recreational basketball for many years through his sons’ high school years.
Bill’s greatest love was his family and friends. His wife, boys, grandchildren, and beagle dog, Daisy meant the world to him. He loved to play golf, but due to his illness he had been unable to play for the last few years, but still enjoyed watching on television. In past years he spent many Saturdays playing golf at Indian Hills Country Club with his golf buddies in the Men’s Golf Association. He also enjoyed taking golf trips with friends, playing in tournaments across the country.
Bill is survived by his wife of 33 years, Jane Morse Trinkle. He became a husband and father the day that they wed, with Jane as his wife and Scott as his son, who has given him three wonderful grandchildren to love.
