William "Bill" Paschal West III

William Paschal West III (Bill), 88, of Marietta, Georgia, passed away on July 13, 2026. Born on March 14, 1938, in Atlanta, Georgia. Billy graduated from West Fulton High School in 1956 and married the late Judy Shirley Granger in November of 1957. Together they raised two children William Russell and Christy Renee in Smyrna, Georgia.

Billy proudly served in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1962. Following his military service, he began his career with Elliott Business Machines before finding his true calling to be a home builder. As the owner of Westco Construction, he took great pride in building homes the traditional way and performed much of the finishing work personally. He had a strong work ethic and ran a tight financial operation which earned him the respect of those who knew and did business with him.

Beyond his work, Bill for many years enjoyed breeding and training field trail Beagles and developed a bloodline with many champions in the pedigree. As he aged it became harder to breed dogs so he took up many other hobbies including traveling, golfing, dancing, fishing, putting together puzzles, and searching for hidden treasures at garage sales. One of his favorite past times was hunting for bargains that he could then bring home to resell at a profit. In truth it was probably the negotiation and haggling that he enjoyed most. His hobbies reflected his resourcefulness, analytical mindset, enthusiasm for and appreciation of life’s simple pleasures.

William P. was preceded in death by his mother, Marjorie Mooney West; his father, William P. West, Jr.; his sisters, Carolyn Price and Debbie McCampbell; and his son, Kyle West. He is survived by his son, Russ West (Pam); his daughter, Christy Colwell; his grandchildren, Michelle Murdock (Andrew), Taylor Colwell, Granger West, and Graycen West; his great-grandchildren, Julia Murdock and Millie Murdock; his sisters, Linda Lindsey and Mary Riley; and many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Bill’s legacy includes the homes he built throughout his career, the many memories he created throughout his life, as well as, the educational and financial support he provided for members of his family. He will be remembered for his independence, frugality, enjoyment of simple pleasures and the unique way he embraced life. His memory will continue to live in the hearts of his family and all who knew him.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Bill’s life on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Georgia Memorial Park Funeral Home, 2000 Cobb Parkway SE, Marietta, Georgia 30060. Visitation will begin at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. After the service, family and friends are invited to gather for a luncheon as we will continue celebrating Bill’s life and sharing memories together. Due to a chance of inclement weather, a private family burial will take place at a later date.
