Albert M. Nelson

He was born July 13, 1927 in Bassett, Virginia to the late John Nelson and Cora Nelson. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by two brothers; Robert N. Nelson and Lawrence M. Nelson. He was retired from Drexel Furniture Co. He served in the Navy in WWII and later in the Army in the Korean War. He was a member of Ebenezer Methodist Church and an active member in the American Legion and VFW organizations.

He is survived by one brother; Myron Nelson, wife Marie, two sisters; Ruth Laws, husband Jeter, Ann Altman, husband Tom, all of Marion, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:30 PM on Sunday, October 16, 2011 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. David McHale and Dr. Jack Sammons Officiating. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery where military rites will be provided. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to: Ebenezer Methodist Church Building Fund 744 Ebenezer Church Rd. Old Fort, NC 28762.
