
Betty Sue Beam Castle, 78, of Marion, NC went to be with the Lord Friday, March 25, 2011 at her daughter’s residence. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was the best mother anyone could have.
She was born May 20, 1932 in Mitchell County, NC to the late Gillispie and Flora Louise Barrier Beam. In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Castle; her daughter, Sandy Silvers; five brothers, Pat, Donald, Jack, Paul and Ralph Beam; and four sisters, Beatrice Peters, Pauline Nichols, Helen Connor and Kathleen McLerd.
Mrs. Castle was a member of Shining Light Baptist Church. She was a life long Sunday School Teacher and Nursery worker. She loved to sing at her church.
Surviving are one son, Rev. Danny Castle of Nebo, NC; one daughter, Debbie Garrett and husband, Don of Old Fort, NC; one sister, Shirley Vallini of Nebo, NC; six grandchildren, Wesley Silvers and wife, Deedee, Wade Silvers, Sean Fincher and wife, Amy, Carrie C. Bennick and husband, Todd, Carissa C. Parker and husband, Jeremy and Cori C. Gurley and husband, Wesley; eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 3:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Sunday, March 27, 2011 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 28, 2011 at Shining Light Baptist Church (I 40 exit 107 in Morganton, NC) with Mrs. Castle’s son, Rev. Danny Castle and her nephews, Rev. Sam Vallini and Rev. Joey Beam officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Memorial Park.
