Billy Wayne Mace, age 71, of Marion, NC, passed away on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Mission Hospital St. Joseph’s Campus in Asheville, NC, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Mace was born on February 4, 1945, in Elizabethton, TN., to the late Charlie Mack and Grace Grindstaff Mace.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Marion and was retired from Baxter Healthcare. He was known for his love of music and line dancing, as well as working on cars and collecting model cars. He loved his family very much and adored his children, grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Surviving Mr. Mace are his wife, Margie Walker Mace; sons Terry Mace and wife Angie, of Pleasant Gardens, NC, Jarrod Mace of Marion, NC, and Timmy Vess and wife Sharon of Marion, NC; daughters Lavonda Woodall and husband Clayton of Panama City, FL, Rebecca Buchanan of Marion, NC and Frankie Beaver of Black Mtn., NC; a brother, Rodney Mace and wife Debbie of Arizona; a sister, Brenda McKinney and husband Tommy of Marion, NC; a special friend, Linda Sutton of Old Fort; seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 3:00 PM at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in Marion with Bishop Robert van Brederode officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow the funeral service at Oak Grove Cemetery in Marion.
