Dale Samuel Wood

Dale S. Wood, age 74 of 4821 Frank Barus Ave., Lot 4, Valdese, NC passed away on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 at his residence with his family at his side. He was born on October 20, 1938 to the late Linus Wood and Evangeline Hollifield Wood Bailey. Mr. Wood was preceded in death by brothers Cecil and Herman Wood, paternal grandparents Samuel Clemmie Wood and Mattie L. Dwyer Wood and materal grandparents Lyda Hollifield and Lennie S. Hollifield.

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife of 44 years Doris Wood of the home, a son Leonard Robinson of Fernley, Nevada, daughters Teresa Wood-McClellan and husband Marc of Naples, Florida, Mary Wood –Mitchell and husband Richard of Morganton, NC, and Karen Wood of Sharon, Pennsylvania. Surviving are two brothers, Mr. Stanley Bailey and Keith Bailey of Morganton, NC. Also surviving are five sisters, Barbara Chase of Hendersonville, NC, Evelyn Frizsell of Fairview, NC., Ruby Carter of Morganton, NC, Janie Ward of Morganton, NC, and Linda Barus and husband Farrell of Valdese, NC. Six grandchildren Jessica Wood, Savanna Wood, Philip Robles, Danielle McClellan, Marc Anthony McClellan, and Samantha Howard survive plus one great grandchild Nathan Alexander Wood.

Funeral services for Mr. Wood will be conducted on Friday, July 5, 2013 at 1:00 PM in the McCall Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion, NC. Visitation will be conducted on Thursday, July 4, 2013 in the funeral home from 7 to 9 PM.

Burial will follow the services on Friday at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery, Marion, NC.
