

He was born April 23, 1953 in Catawba County, NC to the late Dannie Lawrence Herring, Sr. and Dorothy Grace Mills Herring.
Mr. Herring was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army and was a member of the Marion Moose Lodge.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his sister, Teresa Willis.
Surviving Mr. Herring are his wife of 28 years, Anita Creasman Herring of the home; four children, Jeremy Herring and wife, Susan of Hendersonville, NC, Adrienne Mills, Zachary Herring and wife, Tressa and Danielle Herring all of Marion, NC; eight grandchildren, Jacob Robinson, Michelle Robinson, Cory Robinson, Brayden Morgan, Destiny Herring, Chrissy Herring, James Herring and Lilly Herring; five great-grandchildren; one sister, Deborah Taylor and husband, Steve; a special niece, Erin Burleson Buchanan; sister and brother-in-law, Dennis and Linda Lee Burleson; and numerous nieces and nephews. Also surviving Mr. Herring are his “heart” children, Rodney Williams, Jeff Pittman, Jonathan Williams, Jeremy Briggs and Cookie Barrier.
The family will receive friends from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM on Wednesday, February 24, 2016 Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC. A Funeral Service will follow at 3:00 PM at the funeral home with Pastor Dennis Burleson officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Honors provided by NC National Guard and Caldwell County Veterans Honor Guard, Inc. Pallbearers will include: Zachary Herring, Rodney Williams, Jeff Pittman, Jonathan Williams, Jeremy Briggs, Jeff Buchanan and Jeremy Herring.
