Elizabeth Lorraine Hensley

Elizabeth Lorraine Ledford Stroud Hensley, 86, of Marion, died Thursday, April 18, 2013 at the Hospice of Rutherford County. Born on April 17, 1927 in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late M.L. and Annie Burgin Ledford.

She was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church having been baptized on May 1, 1955. She was the Sunday School secretary for many years. Mrs. Hensley was also a member of the Eastern Star. She was an outdoors person; having enjoyed working in her garden. She loved her flowers, canning, making cakes and most of all, trusting in God.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, John Stroud and her second husband, Donald Hensley; her four brothers, Harold, Ralph, Jack and Manley Roy Ledford; two sisters, Emma McCracken and Nancy Walker; and step-children, Jack Hensley and Jeannie Furgeson.

She is survived by her sisters, Annie Jean Rumfelt of Marion and Florence Poteat of Morganton; step-children, William (Bill) Hensley and wife, Glenna of Clinton, UT, Donald Bruce Hensley of CA, and Doris Stevens of Mars Hill, NC; numerous step-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Saturday, April 20, 2013 at Greenlee Baptist Church with the Reverend Dr. Jack Sammons and the Reverend Coy Jeans officiating. Burial will follow the service at Montford Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
