Flo Maxine Brewer Hollifield

She was born March 26, 1931 in Avery County, NC to the late Samuel and Lara Bell Taylor Brewer. Maxine attended Grace Baptist Church in Morganton, NC. She enjoyed canning food that she grew and crafting jewelry for family with her daughter.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Leo Eugene “Smokey” Hollifield; her daughter, Sandy Smith; four brothers; and four sisters.

Left behind to cherish Maxine's memory are two sons, Larry Hollifield of Nebo, NC; Micheal Hollifield of Sparks, GA; one daughter, Brenda Kay Young of Morganton, NC; one sister, Mable McKinney of Newland, NC; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, September 30, 2014 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Marty Bess officiating. Burial will follow at Murphy’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
