Mr. Floyd Willie Wilson, age 79 of Marion, NC passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 15, 2013 at the McDowell Hospital. He was born on December 24, 1933 to the late Clifford Lee Wilson and Mrs. Bertha Nell Halford Wilson. Mr. Wilson was an active member of more than 40 years and served as past choir leader of Sugar Hill Baptist Church, enjoyed playing golf and working the local flea markets. He was a gifted musician, having owned his own band, writing and recording songs on CD’s and playing at times in Nashville, Tenn with various country musicians. He owned and operated Wilson’s Music Center for many years. Mr. Wilson was preceded in death by two brothers, Mr. Charles Ray and Mr. Herman Eugene Wilson, and one sister Ms. Jewell Virginia Wilson.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mrs. Barbara Jean Conner Wilson of the home, daughters Gail Bailey and husband Steve of Marion, Linda Beam and husband Joseph of Nebo, and Rhonda Messer also of Marion, NC. He is survived by sister Geneva Smith of Elizabethton, Tenn, Mildred Goins of Spruce Pine, and Betty Wilson of Orlando, Fl. Mr. Wilson is survived by four grandchildren, Chad Bailey, Jakan Beam, Nikki Hoskins, and Sydney Messer. Four great grandchildren also survive, Colby and Caydence Bailey, and Knox and Draya Hoskins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, June 19, 2013 at Sugar Hill Baptist Church beginning at 2:00 pm. Visitation will be the evening prior, Tuesday June 18, 2013 between 6:00 PM and 8:00 PM at McCall Memorial Chapel, Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion, NC.
Burial will follow the services at Montford Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.
