Gertrude Scott Brown, 85, of Marion, NC, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Deer Park Health and Rehab in Nebo, NC.
Mrs. Brown was born on August 4, 1932, in McDowell County, to the late Sewell Scott and Maude Sellers Scott.
She was a long time member of Roses Chapel and also attended Faith Tabernacle and Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Brown was a sweet lady, a humble and private person, who kept to herself. She loved to play the piano and enjoyed going to church revivals and tent meetings. She loved the Lord and her family. She had one son, Phillip Brown.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her sisters, Norene Davis and Emma Corpening.
Surviving Mrs. Brown are her sister, Gay Ramsey, of Nebo; very special nieces, JoAnn Hall, of Morganton, Sharron Davis of Valdese, and Lisa (Tim) Joyner, of Valdese; very special nephews, John Corpening, of Morganton, Harrison Corpening of Rutherfordton, and Vernon Ramsey of Washington.
The family will receive friends on Friday, February 2, 2018, from 1:00 PM to 1:30 PM, at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation, at 1:30 PM in the chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home, with Dr. Michael Smith officiating. Burial will take place after the service in the Scott-Sellers Family Cemetery in Marion.
