Hazel Belle Carswell

She devoted her life to her children and grand-children, who she loved dearly.

Mrs. Carswell was preceded in death by her husband, Lenior “Knox” Carswell, son, Leon Carswell, sister, Dorothy Merrill, sister, Opal Howard and brother, Albert Lawing. She is survived by a son, Jerry Carswell and wife Joyce of Nebo, daughters, Patty Fincher and husband William of Nebo and daughter, Carolyn Kiser also of Nebo, NC. She is survived by three brothers, John and Ray Lawing of Nebo, and Ralph Lawing of Kentucky. Three sisters survive Mrs. Carswell, Shirley Hensley of Nebo, Zelda Curtis of Asheville, and Naomi King of Winston-Salem, NC.

Five grandchildren survive, Doug Jennings, Kim Hemphill, Karen King, Jennifer Cable, and Stephanie Carswell. Eight great-grandchildren survive, Peyton, Ethan, Morgan, McKenzie, David, Madison, Spencer, and Grayson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Carswell will be conducted on Monday, May 13, 2013 beginning at 1:00 PM at Shining Light Baptist Church, Valdese, NC by Pastor Danny Castle. Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 12, 2013 at McCall Kirksey Chapel, Marion, NC from 5 to 7 PM.

Burial will follow the services on Monday at McDowell Memorial Park, Marion, NC.
