Hobert Ricker

Hobart Ricker, age 89, of Marion, NC died Monday, March 7, 2011 at Charles George VA Medical Center. He was born July 5, 1921 in Madison County, NC to the late Elmer and Georgia Lawson Ricker. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Lizzie Smith Ricker; three step-children, Kenneth Autrey, Betty Capenter and Ann Fisher; two brothers, Swan and Earl Ricker; and three sisters, Ruby Shelton, Beulah Elliott and Maggie Croom.

Mr. Ricker was a WWII veteran of the United States Army and retired from Old Fort Finishing after 30+ years of service.

Surviving are one son, Everette Ricker of the home; one sister, Pauline Walker of Marion; seven grandchildren; eleven great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, March 11, 2011 at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with Rev. Ronnie Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC.
