
Mr. Clark was born on May 21, 1926 in Avery Co., NC to the late Harlan and Thula Franklin Clark.
Mr. Clark was a member of North Cove Baptist Church in Marion. He was an ordained Deacon since 1959 and served as Chairman of the Deacons. He retired from Drexel Furniture after 43 years of employment. Mr. Clark was a US Army veteran who served his country proudly in WWII. His bravery earned him a World War II Victory Medal and an Occupational Medal.
Mr. Clark was known for his humble and quiet mannerisms as well as his compassion for people and animals. Everyone who knew him loved him dearly. Most of all, he was a devoted family man.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his brothers, Howard Clark and Jim England; and sisters, Amy McKinney and Pearl Denny.
Surviving Mr. Clark are his wife of 70 years, Jo Irene Swofford Clark, of the home; sons, Douglas Hoyle (Wanda) Clark and Steven Carver (Mimi) Clark, both of Marion; a daughter, Linda (Robert) Litwin, of Marion; a brother, Larry (Betty) Clark of Wilmington; sister, Elva Clark (Carver) Weatherman of Morganton; Eight grandchildren and Fourteen great-grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, August 4, 2016 at 11:00 AM at North Cove Baptist Church with the Pastor Richard Merritt officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial with military honors will follow the service in the church cemetery
