Jo Irene Clark

She was born April 21, 1925 in Mitchell County, NC to the late Lucian Richard Swofford and Hattie Mae Fortner Swofford. Mrs. Clark was a member of North Cove Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 59 years. She was a Godly woman who loved to spread the gospel. Mrs. Clark loved her family and adored spending time with them. She was known for being a great cook and always grew a huge garden. Mrs. Clark loved people. She enjoyed talking with everyone she met.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 70 years, Hoyle Alexander Clark; two brothers; and two sisters.

Surviving Mrs. Clark are two sons, Douglas Hoyle Clark and wife, Wanda of Marion, NC and Steven Carver Clark of Morganton, NC; one daughter, Linda Litwin and husband, Robert of Marion, NC; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers; and three sisters. She is also survived by her beloved church family, a host of other relatives and many special friends.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at North Cove Baptist Church. A Funeral Service will follow at 2:00 PM with Pastor Richard Merritt officiating. Burial will follow at North Cove Baptist Church Cemetery.
