John Wayne Evans

Mr. Evans was born February 7, 1940 in McDowell County, NC to the late John Wilson Evans and Evelyn Johnson Evans. He was a Vietnam veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Morgan Evans in 2006 and one son, John Wayne Evans, Jr. in 1993.

Those left behind to cherish Mr. Evans’ memory are three sons, James Wynn Evans (Gwen), Richard Howard Evans (Megan) and James Wayne Evans (Brittney); two daughters, Denise Michell Evans Reid (Danny) and Evelyn Elizabeth Evans Arrowood (Jimmy); one brother, Thomas Edward Jannozzio (Katherine); and three sisters, Carol Evans Lowe, Mary Mitchell and Linda Ledford (Sam); and twelve grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A memorial service to celebrate Mr. Evans’ life will be held at 12:00 PM on Tuesday, January 21, 2020 at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC.
