Joseph Rutherford

Joseph Rutherford, 74, of Marion, NC a veteran of the Korean War with the US Army was awarded his angel wings on Thursday, June 2nd. The loving son, brother, husband, father, grandfather and special friend to many will be remembered for his warm smile.

He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Lottie Rutherford, 3 brothers Ed, Lewis & Charles and 2 sisters Elizabeth & Ethel. He is survived by his wife Lucille Jenkins Rutherford, daughter Mildred Danita Swepson and grandaughter Kameshya Swepson all of Marion, NC, grandsons Kenji Swepson of Los Angeles, CA and Marvin Swepson IV of Marion, NC and 4 great grand children. Also brothers Sidney of Morganton, NC, Arell Sr of Shelby, NC, Robert of Forest City, NC, Harold of Columbus, Ohio and a great number of cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.

The family will receive visitors at 1pm on Tuesday, June 7th at Mt Moriah Missionary Baptist church in Marion, NC followed by a celebration of honorable life.
