

Mrs. Maphery “Aunt May” Louise Hensley Sisk, 86, of Marion, passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2014 at Mountain Ridge Wellness Center in Black Mountain. Born on February 19, 1928 in McDowell County, she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Hensley and Flora “Mama J” Hensley Johnson.
“Aunt May” had a wonderful sense of humor and always enjoyed laughing. She was a life-long member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. “Aunt May” was always a friend and visitor to the sick and elderly in her community. She loved and cherished her family and was loved by all who knew her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Oliver Wendell Sisk; and sister, Aileen Hensley Simmons. She is survived by her nieces, Sharon Proctor and her husband, Del of Marion, Teresa Gouge and her friend, Dwayne of Marion and Rhonda Hensley of Marion; nephews, Tommy Smith and his wife, Donna of Morrisville, NC and Jimmy Simmons and his wife, Susan of Marion; brother, Ronnie Hensley and his wife, Tootie of Arrowhead Trail; and great-nieces and great-nephews, Avri and Tara Smith, Breanna Gouge, James Fox, Christopher Simmons, Nick Bailey and Jessica Ramsey.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at 3:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 26, 2014 in the McCall Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Reverend Tom Walker officiating. Burial will follow the service at Zion Hill Baptist Church Cemetery in Marion.
The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service at the funeral home.
