
She was born August 14, 1922 in McDowell County, NC to the late James Fletcher Hardy and Annie Beattis Hardy. Mrs. Beam was a member of Addies Chapel United Methodist Church. Among her favotite pastimes where traveling, caring for her plants and quilting. Some of her beautiful quilts can be seen with family and friends at home and as they travel.
In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Thurman Gus Beam, Jr.; one grandson, James, “Jamie” Williams; and two brothers, James and William Hardy.
Left behind to cherish her memory are three sons, Ronnie Beam and wife, Marcia of Delray Beach, FL, Bruce Beam of Marion, NC and Richard Beam and wife, Mary Greta of Marion, NC; two daughters, Ruby Ann Williams and husband, James of Johnson City, TN and Janet Solomon of Greensboro, NC; eleven grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson, Jayden Lee Solomon; one sister-in-law, Naomi Hardy of Marion, NC; and one niece, Joann Wilson.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at Addie’s Chapel United Methodist Church with Dr. Carl Manuel officiating. Burial will follow at McDowell Cemetery. Mrs. Beam will lie in state 30 minutes prior to the service.
