Mary Esther Goodson

She was born on November 29, 1943 in McDowell County, NC to the late James Bulow Effler and Irene Knupp Effler. Mrs. Goodson attended the Old Fort Wesleyan Church.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her step-son, David Goodson, two brothers; Daniel Effler, Jimmy Effler, and one sister, Doris Lunsford.

Surviving Mrs. Goodson, is her husband Vernie Goodson, Jr., of the home, two sons; James Ronald Goodson, of Marion, Mike Ray Goodson, wife Debbie, of Black Mt., one brother, Henry Effler, wife Bonita, of Marion, five sisters; Sarah Bright, husband Ray, of Marion, Carolyn Jones, of Nebo, Ollie Effler, of Old Fort, Evelyn Young, of Mt. Airy, and Bernice Ewart, of Marion, three grandchildren; Kori Goodson, Kyle Goodson, and Colton Goodson, seventeen nieces and thirteen nephews.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the Old Fort Wesleyan Church. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 PM at the Old Fort Wesleyan Church with Rev. Richard Stanley and Rev. David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at Cherry Springs Memorial Park.
