Mary Kathleen Scott

Mary “Kathleen” Scott, “Mother Scott”, was born on February 5, 1925, in Marion, NC, to the late Winston and Malissa Murphy. “Mother Scott” is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years George B. Scott, Sr., one daughter Cora E. Scott, two sons, Thomas E. Scott and Bobby L. Scott.

“Mother Scott” accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Roses Chapel Church, where she served as the Choir Director for 20 years. She loved to sing and play her tambourine. “Mother Scott” was one of the two last living members of Roses Chapel Church. She then joined Community Baptist Church where she served as “Mother of the Church” until her last day in this life.

“Mother Scott” graduated from Hudgins High School and graduated Cosmetology School. She retired from Southern Device, where she worked in Assembly for 25 years. She then went to work at Holiday Cleaners for several years.

She leaves to mourn, her daughter, Teresa M. Rutherford of Nebo, NC and two sons, George B. Scott Jr. (Donna) of Nebo, NC and Shuford L. Scott (Caroline) of Austin, TX. Her baby sister, Cora Annie Lee Owens of Detroit, MI. 15 Grands, 28 Great Grands and 10 Great Great Grands. Aunts, Uncles, Nieces, Nephews and a host of Cousins, her Church Families, her Senior Center Family and the surrounding Community.

She is a Matriarch, a Virtuous Woman who lived a Virtuous life!

She Always stood on the battlefield in the Army of The Lord! She touched the lives of More than Many! She was Always smiling and Always happy… A Bright Ray of Sunshine!
