Midge Jewell Johnson Mason (Jewell)

She was born August 20, 1944 in McDowell County, NC to the late Ted Roosevelt Johnson and Allie Mae Effler Johnson. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Mason is also preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Darrell Mason and two brothers, William Theodore Johnson and Vernon Ashby Johnson.

Mrs. Mason worked as an associate at Walmart in Marion and was a member of Greenlee Baptist Church.

Surviving are three daughters, Denise Coleman and husband, Eddie of Old Fort, Dena Ledford and husband, Loren of Marion and Diana McRary and husband, Jeff of Marion; three brothers, Arthur Carl Johnson of Old Fort, Joseph Harold Johnson and wife, Barbara of Marion and Arnold “PeeWee” Johnson and wife, Judy of Old Fort; two sisters, Elsie Brookshire of Old Fort and Opal Queen of Old Fort; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, that she loved dearly; and many friends.

Mrs. Mason’s family will receive friends from 5:30 PM until 6:30 PM on Monday, April 18, 2011 at Greenlee Baptist Church. Funeral Services will follow the visitation at 7:00 PM on Monday, April 18, 2011 at the church with Rev. Jack Sammons officiating. Graveside service will be Tuesday, April 19, 2011 at 2:00 PM at McDowell Memorial Park.
