Myrtle Shuford Johnson, 93, of Marion, died Monday, May 20, 2013 at the John F. Keever Solace Center in Asheville. Born on March 26, 1920 in Yancey County, she was the daughter of the late Daniel Shuford and Alice Chrisawn Shurford. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Andrew Davis; her second husband, Henry Johnson; brothers, Caney Shuford and Victor Shuford. She is survived by her daughter, Opal Elliott of Johnson City, TN; granddaughters, Sandra Elliott of Barnegat, NJ and Darlene Wehunt and her husband, Mike of Vienna, GA; great-grandchildren, Wayne Wehunt and his wife, Stephanie and Andrew Wehunt and his wife, Nissa; great-great grandchildren, Daniel Short and Alyssa Wehunt; brother, Elden Shuford and his wife, Vada of Canton, NC; and several half-sisters and half-brothers. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 22, 2013 in the McCall Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with the Reverend Ken Burleson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Cherry Springs Memorial Park in Old Fort. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 12:00-1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
