Patricia "Patsy" Mae Stroud

Patricia Mae “Patsy” Stroud, age 67 of Highway 221 North, Marion, NC left her earthly family to be with her heavenly family Thursday afternoon, May 8, 2014, while at Mission Memorial Hospital in Asheville, NC. She is survived by her husband Glenn Stroud of the home. They were married 46 years. She was born August 21, 1946, to the late Fred G. and Nina McKinney of Spruce Pine, NC. She was preceded in death by Glenn’s brother, Harry Stroud. She is survived by her sister Linda Parlier and husband Allen of Morganton; Ray McKinney and wife Karen of Bakersville and her brothers Ted McKinney and wife Kathy and Dennis McKinney and wife Renee of Spruce Pine. Glenn’s brothers are John Stroud of Marion, Oliver Troy Stroud Jr. of Asheville and a sister Margaret Wilson of Marion. Patsy was a member of Grassy Creek Baptist Church since the early 1950’s. She loved to attend family gatherings and celebrations.

She is survived by two nieces, Michelle Rose, of Little Switzerland and Dawn Hang of Morganton. She is blessed by five nephews; Chris Parlier of Morganton, Freddie Parlier of Wilmington, Rick McKinney of Bakersville, Neil McKinney of Newton and Josh McKinney of Davidson. Glenn’s nephews and nieces are Scotty and Karen Stroud, Derrick Wilson and Tammy Wilson of Marion. Patsy and Glenn have numerous grand nephews and nieces.

The family respectfully requests the honor of your presence at the funeral service honoring the life of Patsy Stroud at 7:00 PM on Sunday May 11, 2014, at Kirksey Funeral Home of Marion, NC with the Reverends Daniel Whestine and Terry Allen officiating. A time to receive friends, share memories and support the family will be held from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Sunday afternoon at the funeral home prior to the services.

Interment will be on Monday, May 12, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Hicks Chapel Baptist Church in The Stroud Family Cemetery. Nephew’s will be honored to serve as pallbearers.
