Peggy Gaddy

GADDY – Peggy Bowman Gaddy, age 80, of Snellville, Georgia entered into rest on Friday, December 16, 2011 with her devoted son & daughter-in-law, Joseph M. “Buddy” Gaddy, Jr. and his wife Margie of Snellville, GA by her side. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Joseph M. “Joe” Gaddy, Sr. on November 22, 2010. Other survivors include three grandsons, Rob Gaddy and Ami Tyrseck , Randall James Gaddy all of Stone Mountain, GA, Christopher Cone of Snellville, GA; two great granddaughters, Melody Marie Gaddy and G.G. Tyrseck; sister, Pauline Harrison of Stockbridge, GA; three sisters-in-law, Betty Crenshaw of Charlotte, NC, Margaret Adams of Morganton, NC, and Beulah Hoppaugh of NJ; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Gaddy was also preceded in death by her parents; five brothers, Bill, John “Fat”, Pete, Ed “Tuney”, and Edwin “Babe” Bowman.

Peggy Gaddy was born on July 26, 1931 in Marion, NC to Mary Edna Justice Bowman and John Hester Bowman. She attended Marion High School and received her GED after moving to Georgia. She married Joe Gaddy on December 24, 1950 in Marion, NC and retired as a Clerk with over 20 years of service with the Dekalb County Tax Assessors Office. Mrs. Gaddy loved reading her Bible and working search word puzzles. After she retired she helped her niece and her husband grow Hosta Plants and have gardening parties. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend. Mrs. Gaddy is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior.

A Service Celebrating the Life of Peggy Bowman Gaddy will be held Friday, December 23, 2011 at 2:00 P.M. at the Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel with Rev. Jim Crutchfield officiating. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, December 22nd from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Tom M. Wages Snellville Chapel. Mrs. Gaddy will be taken to the Kirksey Funeral Home, 69 N. Main St., Marion, NC 28752 (828-652-2120) for visitation on Tuesday, December 27th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Kirksey Funeral Home. A Service will be held on Wednesday, December 28, 2011, at 2:00 P.M. in the Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home with Rev. Tom Hunter officiating. Interment will follow at McDowell Memorial Park. Flowers are accepted, but those desiring may make donations to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Home, 760 Pollard Blvd. SW, Atlanta GA 30315 in memory of Peggy Bowman Gaddy.
