Premier Maxine Caraway

Premier Maxine Caraway, age 95, of Marion, NC, went to be with the Lord Friday, December 31, 2010 at Autumn Care of Marion. She was generous in her affection, vivaciously sweet and sassy, tireless in her mothering, unconditional in her loving and Godly in all things. She captivated everyone with her personality and her timeless beauty, which won her the crown of “Miss Autumn Care” as well as many crowns in Heaven.

She was born in Rutherford County, NC to the late Coran W. Atkins and Florence Buckner Atkins. Mrs. Caraway was a member of First United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Acie Caraway; her daughter, Luzette Young; her son, O’Neil Caraway; three sisters; and one brother.

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Margaret Lewis of Marion, NC; one sister-in-law, Georgia Nunnally and her daughter, Pat Carmedy both of Marion; six grandchildren, Natalie Young Stamey, Stacie Caraway Coder, Hayley Wood, Angie Caraway Grigsby, Chad Johnson Young and Heidi Premier Wood; and ten great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, January 4, 2011 in McCall Memorial Chapel at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC with Rev. Kent Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
