Ralph Daniel Walker

.Mr. Ralph Daniel Walker, 86, of Marion, passed away, Sunday, August 31, 2014, while at Autumn Care of Marion. Born April 26, 1928, in McDowell County, he was a son of the late Wilburn Walker and Kate Bates Walker. In addition to his parents, Mr. Walker was also preceded in death by his wife, Iva Williams Walker, three sisters, Jewell Williams, Sylvia Mills and Willenia Gerigan, three brothers, JD Hollifield, Winford Walker and Lawrence Walker. Mr. Walker was the Owner of Walker’s Auto Supply in Marion for 15 years and served at Cross Cotton Mills for 26 years. He loved baseball and coached several local teams.

Mr. Walker leaves behind a son, Paul Daniel Walker, of Marion;

A daughter, Linda Russell & husband, Frank, of Perry, FL;

A brother, Wayne Walker, of Milan, MI;

Five sisters, Jerold Jones, of High Point, Jean Mackey, of Old Fort, Caroleen Minor & husband, Grover, of Greensboro, Frankie Calloway, of Marion, and Willie Phillips, of Greensboro;

A special friend, Joni Bruce, of Nebo;

He also leaves behind one grandson and two great granddaughters and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Services for Mr. Walker will be held 2:00 PM, Thursday, September 4, 2014, in the McCall Memorial Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home, Marion, with the Reverend Allen McKinney officiating. Interment will follow at the McDowell Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 12 pm – 2pm, prior to the services at the funeral home.
