
Robert Cameron Crowell of NC passed away December 28, 2018 following a brief illness. He was born in Cambridge, MA on September 7, 1933 to Harold Albert and Ella Jane Crowell. He grew up in Barnstable and Brewster on Cape Cod. Following graduation from Barnstable High School, he joined the Air Force and served as a radar operator directing air traffic. Following his four years in the Air Force he joined the FAA and became an air traffic controller at Hanscom Field in Bedford, MA.
In 1956 Bob married Carol Anderson and settled in Lexington, MA where they raised their 3 children. Summers were spent with family and friends at the Long Pond cottage in Brewster. He spent many hours boating, fishing and entertaining friends.
He finished his career at the Hyannis Municipal Airport as Tower Chief. Upon retirement he moved to NC with his wife, Anne Mearlene. Bob took great pride maintaining his home, tending to his gardens and yard, and being outside on his John Deere tractor.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years Anne Mearlene (Merritt) Crowell and his children Robert and wife Susan of Plymouth, MA, Nancy Crowell of Brewster, MA, David and wife Dana of Chichester, NH, and his stepchildren Teresa and husband James Lattanzi and Neil Jordan of Wilmington, NC. He is also survived by his grandchildren Ian and Sarah, Cameron and his wife Karen, Dylan Lagueux, and Samuel Lattanzi.
He was loved by his family and friends and will be sorely missed. Funeral services will be held at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion on January 5, 2019 at 11:00 am. He will be interred at the State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, NC at a later date.
