Ruby Marlowe Johnson, age 85, of Marion, NC, passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Rosehill Retirement Center in Marion.

Mrs. Johnson was born on February 1, 1931 in McDowell County to the late Dexter Marlowe and Maude Issacs Marlowe.

She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Glenwood and was retired from her job as accounting supervisor at Baxter Healthcare.

Ruby was a very caring and giving person, who had a very positive attitude and happy outlook on life. Ruby was a ray of sunshine and enjoyed working crossword puzzles, reading books, and studying family genealogy. She loved her family and friends most of all.

In addition to her parents, she is also preceded in death by her husband, Grady Paul Johnson and a brother, Glen Marlowe.

Surviving Mrs. Johnson are her daughter, Diane (Colen) Roper of Glenwood, NC; a brother, Jack (Nancy) Marlowe of Reidsville, NC; granddaughters, April (Heath) Johnson of Marion and Jennifer (Mauricio) Retamal of Etowah, NC; and three grandsons, Matias Retamal, Sebastian Retamal and Archer Johnson.

Ruby’s family would like to say a very special thank you to all of the loving family of caregivers at Rosehill Retirement Center for all the love and care given to Ruby over the last four years.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Glenwood Cemetery.
