Thomas Huebert Barrier

Huebert Barrier, age 74, of Nebo , NC, passed away at Hospice of Rutherford County in Forest City, NC on Thursday, February 18, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Barrier was born on December 2, 1941, in Morganton, NC to the late Omer and Nancy Woody Barrier.

He was a member of Mt. View #2 Baptist Church and retired from the textile industry. Mr. Barrier served proudly in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War. He loved to sing, and he loved his church and was a member of a quartet and the church choir. He was a loving and devoted family man who cherished and adored his children and grandchildren.

Surviving Mr. Barrier are his wife of 40 years, Ann Barrier of the home; a son, Tommy Barrier and his wife, Heather; a daughter, Susann Newton, all of Nebo, NC; three brothers, Roger Barrier of Morganton, NC, Jack ( Jean) Barrier of Raleigh, NC, and Ray (Pat) Barrier of Virginia; a sister, Betty Barnette of Morganton, NC; and three grandchildren, Emily Barrier, Ethan Barrier, and Lora Newton, all of Nebo, NC.

A Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2016 at 2:00 PM in the McCall Chapel of Kirksey Funeral Home in Marion, NC. Burial will follow the service at Harmony Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Nebo, NC. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
