Vernie Kyler Goodson Jr.

Vernie Kyler Goodson Jr., 75, of Black Mountain, and formerly of Old Fort, NC, passed away at Memorial Mission Hospital on Saturday, April 13, 2013. Born on May 27, 1937 in Carroll County, VA, he was the son of the late Vernie K. Goodson and Hattie Mae Robinson Goodson. He was a member of Old Fort Wesleyan Church and a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts for many years.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Effler Goodson; son, David Goodson; and a granddaughter, Kori Nicole Goodson.

Mr. Goodson is survived by sons, Mike Goodson and his wife, Debbie of Black Mountain and Ronnie Goodson of Marion; two grandchildren, Kyle Hunter Goodson and Colton Michael Goodson.

A Funeral Service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at Kirksey Funeral Chapel in Old Fort with the Reverend David Johnson officiating. Burial will follow the service at Cherry Springs Memorial Park in Old Fort.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
