Charles E. Best
March 8, 1928 – July 31, 2019
Charles E. Best, 91 of Ossian passed away at 7:40 pm on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at his residence. Charles was a 1946 graduate of East Union Center High School. He had worked for 45 years at General Electric in Fort Wayne. He later worked as a meter reader for 15 years at United REMC and was a life-long farmer in Wells County. Charles was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church and Zanesville Lion’s Club. He was a member of the Good Sam Camping Club where he served as a past President, former King and State Historian. He was a long-time teacher of tractor maintenance for Wells County 4-H.
Charles was born on March 8, 1928 in Markle, Indiana, the son of Jesse D. and Viola M. (Wilson) Best.
He was united in marriage to Annette Wall on July 3, 1948 in Zanesville at the Evangelical United Brethren Church. His wife survives.
Additional survivors include: a son: Dale (Vicky) Best of Ossian; two daughters: Charlotte Yencer of Zanesville; Gladys (Paul) Camp of Fort Wayne; a daughter-In-Law: Robin Best of Hudson, IN; a half-brother: Bill (Bonnie) Blaising of Roanoke; a half-sister: Kate (Ross) Nichols of North Webster; sister-in-law: Lou Ann Best of Warren; 11 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son: Wayne Best, a brother: Herbert Best, half-brother: Jim Blaising, two granddaughters, 3 great grandchildren and a son-in-law: Joseph Yencer.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 2:00pm – 7:00pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana.
Funeral service will be held on Monday, August 5, 2019 at 10:30am with one hour of visitation prior to the service at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel with Pastor Paul Rogers officiating.
Interment will be at the Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville.

Charlie was such a good person and fine Christian. I have fond memories working with him at the Zanesville Lions Club and he was always supportive and enjoyed talking with him at the funeral home

We looked forward to seeing Charlie and Annette at church on Sundays. He always had a smile, and gave out hugs and bubble gum to anyone that asked. He was a sweet man and will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family in their time of grief.
