
Fredrick Dee Gearhart, 80 a life-long resident of Markle, passed away peacefully at his home on January 19, 2013. Fred (Freddie) was born in Markle on October 18, 1932 to Ray and Helen (Folk) Gearhart. He graduated from East Union High School in 1951. He served in the United States Air Force from 1952 – 1956, and was honorably discharged from the USAF Reserve in July 1960. He developed many friendships during his 37 years as a dedicated employee of Fox Contractors and Prime Construction Company. Fred Married Kathryn (Henry) Gearhart in 1957, and they had four children: Debra Gearhart of Sacramento, CA; Jeffrey Gearhart of Markle; Kentin Gearhart of Indianapolis; Jay (wife Lisa) Gearhart of Fort Wayne; two brothers: Ned (wife Kathy) Solloway of Wabash; Rex (wife Janice) Solloway of Huntington; former wife: Kate Gearhart of Markle and four grandchildren: USAF Captain Joel Gearhart of Melbourne, FL; Natalie (husband Preston) Torbet of San Clemente, CA; Jordan and Lindsay Gearhart of Fort Wayne.
Per Fred’s wishes, he will be cremated, and there will be no visitation or funeral service.
