Gwendolyn "Gwen" R. Wilburn, 97 of Winter Park, Florida and formerly of Markle, Indiana, passed away on Monday evening, February 9, 2026, in Florida. Gwen had worked at the Markle Bank for several years before moving to Winter Park in 1955 to open the Commercial Bank at Winter Park, later Combanks. Following her retirement from the bank, she worked at First United Methodist Church of Winter Park as church administrator. Gwen was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park for many years where she served on various committees. She also served as a Trustee of the Florida United Methodist Children's Home and a member of the Council and Finance Committee of the Florida Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church. Gwen loved to travel and was the caretaker of the family as her loved ones aged. She had a quiet strong faith that she lived every day.
Gwen was born on March 4, 1928, in Huntington County, a daughter of the late Roy and Winnie (Fyson) Wilburn.
Survivors include two nieces: Marjorie Mautz and Joy Gilbert both of Markle; a nephew: Larry Wilburn of Fort Wayne and several great, great-great and great-great-great nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Glenn Wilburn; three sisters: Mary Evon Wilburn, Enid Wilburn Overstreet, Olive Wilburn Jones and three nieces: Kathlyn Jones Kinsey, Sharon Jones Shumaker and Susan Overstreet Thompson.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, March 16, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Winter Park, 125 North Interlachen Ave. Winter Park, Florida.
Private Family services will be held at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel at a later date.
Interment will be at the Spider Hill Cemetery in rural Bluffton, Indiana.
