

Kathryn M. (Lund) Best, 100 of Huntington, formerly of Union Twp., Markle, passed quietly and peacefully into the arms of her Savior Jesus Christ, with family gathered around her, Friday afternoon February 21, 2014 at the Parkview Huntington Hospital. Kate was a homemaker and Farm wife. She was a 1932 graduate of West Union High school. She was an active member of the Markle Church of Christ, having played in the church orchestra and helped in many areas of the church over the years. She was a good cook, grew a large garden and helped prepare food for many families. She cared for her husband for 52 years after he got Polio in 1949.
She was born on October 12, 1913 in Story County, IA, a daughter of Frank V. and Emma C. (Burnett) Lund.
She was united in marriage to D. Howard Best on May 18, 1934 in Markle at the Church of Christ parsonage. Howard preceded her in death on September 14, 2002.
Survivors include two sons: Bevan D. (Virginia) Best and Phillip L. (Cathy) Best both of Markle;
5 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren. A sister Mary (Lloyd) Overholt of Markle.
She was preceded in death by a son: Kent Lee Best, Jan. 1, 1941, a sister June Corell and three brothers: Warren Lund, Harry Lund and Don Lund.
Visitation will be held on Monday, February 24, 2014 from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, 455 E. Morse St., Markle, IN., there will also be one hour prior to the service on Tuesday.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Markle Church of Christ, with Greg Comp and Gerald O. Moreland officiating.
Interment will take place at the Markle Cemetery at a later date.
