Lou Ann Best
July 14, 1929 – December 24, 2020
Lou Ann Best, 91 of Warren and formerly of Markle passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2020 at Heritage Pointe of Warren. Lou Ann was a 1947 graduate of Markle High School. She had worked at Memcor Corporation for 20 years. She was a life member of Markle Church of Christ and was a member of PSI IOTA XI Sorority in Markle for 50 years. Lou Ann was known as the “Cookie Lady”. She enjoyed golfing, antiquing and loved spending time with her grandkids.
Lou Ann was born on July 14, 1929 in Huntington, the daughter of the late Edward and Elizabeth (Mayne) Girvin.
She was united in marriage to Herbert G. Best on November 22, 1950 at the Markle Church of Christ Parsonage. Herb preceded her in death on April 25, 2014.
Survivors include three sons: Fredrick (Elaine) Best of Roanoke, Franklin (Anna) Best of Fort Wayne, Lorin (Stacy) Best of Markle; two sisters: A. Sue King of Bloomington, Carolyn Girvin of Markle; 11 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by four brothers: Lee, Bryce, Nile, Hubert Girvin; a sister: Donna J. Girvin and Stepmother: Margaret Girvin.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2020 from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm with funeral service to follow the visitation at 3:00 pm at the Myers Funeral Home Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee Street, Markle, Indiana. We will be following the CDC’s and Indiana’s guidelines for Social Distancing and Social Gathering Limits.
Interment will take place at a later date at the Markle Cemetery.
Memorial donations can be made out to Masters Pantry in care of Myers Funeral Home, P.O. Box 403, Markle, IN 46770.

I'll never forget her calling her sons home in the neighborhood with a different pitch whistle for which one she wanted home. I also remember her and mom taking Lorin and I to our first day of school in her little white Ford . Great memories
