

Wilma M. (Smith) Platt, 100 formerly of Zanesville passed away Saturday afternoon August 11, 2012 at the River Terrace Estates in Bluffton where she resided the last seven years. Mrs. Platt was a homemaker. She was a 1929 graduate of East Union High school. She was a member of the Zanesville United Brethren Church, where she played the piano and organ for over 50 years. She also volunteered at the Markle Health and Rehabilitation and played the piano there once a week. Along with her husband Arlo, they were caretakers of the Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville for many years.
She was born on February 20, 1912 in Wells County the daughter of Charles and Della M. (Jacobs) Smith. She was united in marriage to Arlo E. Platt on December 24, 1930. He preceded her in death on April 17, 1985.
Survivors include a daughter: Marlene (Don) Hoopingarner of Bluffton; a son: Hal (Carolyn) Platt of Leo; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren and 4 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Caroline Rose Platt and a sister: Vesta Parker.
Visitation will take place on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the Myers Funeral Home, Markle Chapel, 415 N. Lee St., Markle, IN.
Funeral Services will take place on Wednesday, August 15, 2012 at 12 p.m. Noon at the Funeral Home, with Pastor Larry Taylor officiating.
Interment will take place in the Hoverstock Cemetery in Zanesville.
