Annette was born on May 26, 1931 in Marlin, Texas to Frank and Mary (Salvaggio) Abate. She attended grade school in Reagan and Marlin, Texas and graduated from Stephen F. Austin High School in Bryan, Texas. She married Nunzie Dingrando on June 5, 1949 in Marlin and they celebrated over 51 wonderful years together until his death on July 28, 2000. They owned and operated several small businesses including Midway Food Store and ABC Storage. Mrs. Dingrando was a faithful member of Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Marlin, Texas.
Annette was an avid bridge player and was a member of three bridge clubs – she cherished these friendships and taught many people how to play the game. She loved playing card games and dominoes but her true love was her family. She welcomed everyone into her home and gave us so many lovely memories. Sunday spaghetti and meatball lunches were cherished family times as were big family holiday gatherings at her house. These feasts included Italian specialties like lasagna, stuffed artichokes, Italian sausage, and fig cookies at Christmas. She welcomed everyone into her home and we will always cherish those lovely memories.
She loved to travel both in the U.S. and Europe. Trips to Italy included visits to Rome, Florence, Venice, Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, Capri, and Sicily where she met relatives in Poggioreale.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Nunzie Dingrando, her mother Mary Salvaggio, and her father, Frank Abate. She is survived by her four children: Carman Dingrando, wife Kathy, Frankie Dingrando, wife Patricia, Mary Dingrando, husband Klaus Wurster, Lynette Dingrando and Greg Winkles, and cousin Lena Ann Akkerman and husband Dick.
