Bessie Mae Swinnea

August 20, 2011. Graveside services will be 1 P.M. Tuesday, August 23, 2011 at Stranger Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday 6 to 8 P.M. at Adams Funeral Home in Marlin.

Mrs. Swinnea was born August 14, 1917 in Mart to George and Irene Foster Anderson. She worked as a telephone operator at the Falls Hotel in Marlin and also worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. She was a faithful member of the First Baptist Church and a lifelong resident of Marlin. Mrs. Swinnea loved to play “42”, Blitz and Gin Rummy. Her children and grandchildren were the love of her life. She married Taylor Swinnea May 18, 1946 and he preceded her in death in 1976. Also preceding were a son-in-law, Blondie Contella, brothers, Harold Anderson, Roy Lee Anderson, grandsons, Michiel Hennig and Travis Sims.

Survivors, Daughter, Susan Contella of Marlin, son Steven Swinnea and wife Carolyn of Austin, Brother, Wilton Anderson of San Antonio, 3 Granddaughters, 3 Grandsons, 4 Great Grandsons and 1 Great Granddaughter. A number of nieces and nephews.
