Dean A. Merkal

Dean Arnold Merkal, 80, went home to the Lord on Friday, January 1, 2016. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM, Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Adams Funeral Home with the Reverend Ray Blundell officiating. Interment will follow in Hillcrest Cemetery with military honors provided by Fort Hood Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Monday, January 4th at the funeral home.

Mr. Merkal was born on August 20, 1935 in Catawissa, Pennsylvania to Troy and Genevieve (Piper) Merkal. He served his country in the United States Army in Germany. Mr. Merkal married Mabel Miller on November 25, 1960 in Houston and they celebrated over 55 wonderful years together. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Dr. Richard Merkal of Auburn, Alabama and Rex Merkal of Clearwater, Florida.

Survivors include his wife; Mabel Merkal, son; Troy, brothers; Ronald Merkal and Robert Merkal and his wife, Marion, granddaughter; Ashley Merkal, grandsons; Lance Allen Hahn and Robert Dean Merkal and numerous nieces and nephews.
