Erwin Julius Grochoske, 92, of Marlin passed away on February 25, 2024, at Providence Hospital in Waco, Texas. He was born on December 14, 1931, in Marlin, Tx to Rudolph and Lillie Grochoske. He is preceded in death by his parents, Rudolph and Lillie, his sister, Corrine, and her husband Jack Kunze, and his sister, Norma Grochoske. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Ruby Grochoske and later by his second wife Margaret Grochoske.
He is survived by his stepdaughters Cindy Garrett and Shirley Ann Allen, his stepsons Tony and wife Laurel Dingrando & family, Pat and wife Christine Dingrando & family, and Joey and wife Patti Dingrando & family and great nephew Travis Grochoske. Grandchildren are Mandy and husband James Robison, Krystal and husband Nick Manier, Lance and wife Jessi Garrett and numerous great-grandchildren.
In 1973 he married his beloved wife, Ruby Martin. They both loved spending time with their family and often spent most weekends enjoying time with their grandchildren. Erwin also enjoyed tinkering with clocks and was well known locally, for his expertise in being able to fix just about anything. He loved to listen to Polka music and would often play it for his grandchildren. He was loved by all that met him and had the kindest heart. After the passing of his first wife, he later married Margaret Allen. They enjoyed spending time together with their pets and family.
Erwin enjoyed farming in his early life and had a love for gardening in his latter years. Erwin worked many years at Kashway and Live Oak Grocery and later retired from the maintenance department from Falls Community Hospital. After the passing of Margaret, he moved in with his loving daughter Cindy, where he spent his last years enjoying living in the country spending time with family and all of the animals he loved. He will be greatly missed by all that loved him.
Services will be held at Blue Ridge Baptist Church, FM 1771 on Sunday, March 10th at 1pm and officiated by Patrick Broaddus. Graveside services will immediately follow at Hillcrest Cemetery, FM-147 in Marlin, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Blue Ridge Baptist Church P.O. Box 793 Marlin, TX 76661-0793.
