

Evelyn Evans (Peterson), 92, of Marlin, entered into rest on Wednesday, October 1, 2014 in Waco. Graveside services will be 1:00 PM, Saturday, October 4, 2014 in Hillcrest Cemetery with Chaplain Judy Prather and Mr. Carey Stephenson officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 to 7:30 PM, on Friday, October 3rd at Adams Funeral Home.
Mrs. Evans was born on February 23, 1922 in Waco to Christopher Columbus and Essie Marie (Smith) Easter. She graduated from Waco High in 1939 and married Foy Eugene Evans on June 6, 1942 and they lived in Marlin for most of their 53 years. Her church membership was at the First Assembly of God in Marlin where she was committed as a Sunday school teacher for various age groups, active in the Women’s Missionary Council, and devoted in any function where there was a need; Evelyn received a plaque for 62 years of dedicated service. Mrs. Evans retired from the Department of Human Services after 25 years of service. Her heart was always compassionate toward those in need. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1995, 2 brothers, an infant brother and 1 sister.
Survivors include her daughters; Elaine Kunkel and Janet Carpenter and her husband, Tim. She adored her grandchildren; Tricia Stephenson and her husband, Carey, Paul Flentge and his wife, Amanda, and Andrew Carpenter and his wife, Michaela as well as her great-grandchildren; Leah Stephenson, Lauren Slafka, Parker Flentge, Abigail Flentge and Austin Carpenter, brothers; Wilton Easter, Bill Easter and Bob Easter, special nephew; Larry Nobles and her extended family, the Kunkel family, who nicknamed her “Mudder”.
