Fred Lynn Martin, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend, passed away surrounded by family and loved ones. He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Sadie Martin, who instilled in him the values of family, laughter, and loyalty that he carried throughout his life.
Fred married the love of his life, Stacie Braswell, on October 11, 2014. Together they built a blended family that brought him great joy and pride. He is survived by his children: daughter Jennifer Simmerly; son Justin Martin and wife Brooke; daughter Jorden Martin; and stepchildren John Pecina III and wife Randa, Dyllon Fowler and wife Stephanie, and Preston Fowler. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Kane Simmerly, Kase Simmerly, Oakley Martin, Nora Martin, Joseph Martin, McKenna Martin, Brinley Martin, Aaron Pecina, Braxton Pecina, Maverick Pecina, Harlynn Pecina, Addyson Larue, Austin Larue, Wyatt Fowler, and Weston Fowler.
Fred was a devoted brother to Bobby Martin (Regina), Jason McMeen (Karen), and Shelia Landers (James), and brother-in-law to Walter Braswell Jr. (Beverly). His large, close-knit family was central to his life, and he treasured every gathering, story, and laugh shared among them.
A man of simple pleasures and steadfast loyalty, Fred enjoyed the things that brought him comfort and joy—a cold Budweiser in hand, a pool table in front of him, and the company of good friends and family. Saturdays and Sundays were reserved for his teams: the Alabama Crimson Tide—Roll Tide!—and the Kansas City Chiefs, which he followed with unshakable passion. Known for his wit, Fred often reminded everyone of one of his favorite sayings: “You can’t fix stupid.”
Pallbearers honoring Fred’s memory will be Justin Martin, John Pecina III, Dyllon Fowler, Bobby Martin, Jason Martin, Dannie Currie, JT Hairston, and Jimmy Lewis.
