He was born on August 14, 1941 in Travis, Texas to John Scott and Addie
Mae Douglas Scott.
Gary graduated from Midway High School in 1959. He worked for Lone
Star Gas, before starting his career with Mrs. Baird's Bakeries in 1964. Over
his 38 years with Mrs. Baird's, he served as route salesman, route supervisor
and Thrift Store supervisor. He was a true salesmen as he loved people and
never met a stranger. After retiring, he never slowed down. He worked for
HEB in Marlin at the time of his death, and loved every minute of it.
In 1983 Gary married Linda Jones and they were married 38 years. He was a
member of Trinity Memorial Baptist Church until its closure. Afterwards he
and Linda joined First Baptist Church in Marlin. He spent much of his time
volunteering at Falls County Samaritan House and serving as a board
member. Gary loved his cows and being at the farm.
Gary is survived by his wife, Linda Scott, his two children Terri Lauderdale
(Andy) and Tommy Scott (Jean), as well as three that he treated as his own,
Rhonda Jones Wood (Morris), Randy Jones (Sheila), and Brian Jones
(Cheryl), and sister Emmylou Montgomery (Bill). He was known as "Pops"
and "Paw Paw" by his 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and several
nieces and nephews. He was also survived by his best friend and buddy,
Calvin Henry. Gary loved his dog Maxx and several cats.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vonda Crocker, and many
friends.
