

On December 25, 2012 Hazel Ruth Foster, 88 passed away at home and went to be with her Lord. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at the First Baptist Church in Marlin with the Reverend Don Fulton officiating. A visitation for family and friends will be held before the service at 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Hazel was born September 8, 1924 in Marlin, Texas to Amelia (Parsons) and Jack Loggins. She grew up in Marlin, living most of her life there. Hazel was a successful business woman and entrepreneur who was owner and operator of apartment houses and spent many years providing housing and care for veterans. She was a gifted artist and was a member of the Art League of Marlin. She had a passion for oil painting and even taught some painting classes. Hazel was an accomplished cook and could often be found in the kitchen experimenting with a new recipe or whipping up a tried and true family favorite. She was also an avid gardener and derived much pleasure in nurturing and growing plants.
Her parents and two children, Tom Meece and Carolyn Watkins, precede her in death.
Those left to cherish her memory are brother, Bill Loggins and wife Ollie of Gatesville; son, Jack Meece and wife Dorothy of Marlin; daughters, Judith Lucas and husband Arthur of Waco, Peggy Adkins and husband Ronnie of Lott, Susan Kirby and husband Rusty of Schertz; 14 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 1 great, great-grandchild and numerous nieces and nephews.
The Pallbearers will be Hazel’s grandsons and great-grandsons.
The family especially thanks Lighthouse Hospice of San Antonio and the many caregivers who have so lovingly given their time and talents to make our mother comfortable, particularly in the past couple of years.
