Irene Venegas, born on April 26, 1956, in Marlin, Texas, to Martha Vanegas and Rudolopho Vanegas, Sr., passed away on February 15, 2026, at the age of 69. Irene was a woman of high moral character, strength, wisdom, and faithfulness. Her hard-working nature and wisdom were evident to all who knew her.
Irene graduated from Marlin High School in 1974. She married Johnnie Venegas, Sr. on June 15, 1974, in Marlin, Texas, where they built a life together. She was a devoted member of the Marlin Baptist Church and volunteered in the children's nursery. Irene cherished being a stay-at-home mother to her children.
A visitation will be held at Adams Funeral Home, located at 129 Coleman Street, Marlin, TX 76661, on February 19, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life service will take place at Fuego Church, 1012 Live Oak St, Marlin, Texas 76661, on February 20, 2026, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. Following the service, a committal will be held at Hillcrest Cemetery, 266 FM147, Marlin, TX 76661, from 11:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Martha Vanegas and Rudolpho Vanegas, Sr., brothers, Rudolpho Vanegas, Jr., and Alex Vanegas.
Survivors include her husband of 51 years, Johnnie Venegas; daughter, Christina Venegas; sons, Jeremy Venegas, Augustine Venegas, Justin Venegas, and Anthony Venegas; 10 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; sisters, Susie Tovar, and Ortencia Sifuentez.
Irene's life was guided by the words of Proverbs 31:10 (KJV): "A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies." Her legacy of strength, wisdom, and faithfulness will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
