Laverna G. Pursche

Laverna Dieterich Pursche, age 95, of Waco passed away on August 29, 2025. A memorial service will be held on September 27, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at First Evangelical Church, Waco, with Rev. Richard Rust officiating.

Laverna was born July 25, 1930 to Leo and Meta Wolske Dieterich. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Riesel. She attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Riesel High School in 1947. On January 7,1951, she married R.D. Pursche and were married almost 67 years at his passing on December 27, 2017.

Laverna was a homemaker, loved the outdoors, gardening, and sewing. She delighted in sending cards to family, friends, and shut-ins. Her husband and family, friends, and church were very important in her life.

Preceding her in death was her husband, R.D. Pursche, her parents, 2 brothers, Clarence “Rabbit” Dieterich and Curtis Dieterich and a sister, Jeanette Bennett. She is survived by daughter, Susan Cummings and husband Michael of Pittsburg, Texas, and son, Daryl Pursche of Palestine, TX; granddaughters Traci Wallace and husband Seth, Kelli York and husband Kevin, Kendra Fowler and husband Carson, and Angela Collier, 10 great grandchildren, 2 great- great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Jane Dieterich, and numerous nieces and nephews.
