Lynda Carol Lawless

Born on February 10, 1944, in Alexandria, Virginia, she was the beloved daughter of Lt. Colonel Thomas and Margaret Simpson. Growing up in a military family during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, Lynda lived in numerous states and foreign countries as her family moved from one Army base to another. Her family eventually settled in San Antonio, Texas, where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1961. This nomadic upbringing taught her to make friends quickly, embrace change, and always make the best of any situation—traits that defined her character and stayed with her throughout her entire life.

Professionally, Lynda was a woman of great drive and public service. She worked as an award-winning Realtor in Conroe, Texas, served her community as a Justice of the Peace for 12 years in Marlin, Texas, and served 10 years as President of the Falls County Samaritan House in Marlin.

Lynda’s deep faith and passion for community involvement shone brightly through her work. Upon moving to Bryan, Texas, she remained a deeply committed and active member of her local church community. Lynda was known for her remarkable ability to see the best in others, giving generously of her time, heart, and leadership to every organization she touched.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Lt. Col. Thomas and Margaret Simpson, and her brother, Thomas Simpson Jr.

Lynda was immensely proud of her family and quick to compliment them all. She is survived by her loving husband, Larry Lawless. Her legacy lives on through her children: JT Eckstrum and his wife Lisa; Kim Nunn and her husband Clay; Allison Tucker and her husband Jon; Whitney Wright; and Grant Conlee. She was the cherished grandmother of thirteen grandchildren: Ryan and Andie Eckstrum; Jordan, Ashley, and Caroline Nunn; Gibson, Ellie, and Boone Tucker; Cooper Currie; Case and Ramsey Wright; Davis and Jess Conlee, and one great grandchild Brayden Eckstrum.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, August 28, 2026, at Adams Funeral Home, 129 Coleman Street, Marlin, Texas 76661. A graveside service will follow.
